ACM HAITI MEMBERS/ASSOCIATES

Comrades,

Some have asked what we know about the situation with ACM colleagues in Haiti. There are about a dozen ACM members and associates, living and working in Haiti, with whom we have kept in touch over recent years and eight who have been on the listserv and/or have secured ACM Press IDs in recent times. These persons are:

Marie Raphaelle Pierre
Eddy Jackson Alexis
Romney Cajuste
Jacques Desrosiers
Rommel Pierre

Our main focal points - Guy Delva and Jean-Claude Louis - have made some kind of contact. Guy reported via Reuters immediately following the earthquake and continues to contribute to news reports while Jean-Claude was in Canada at the time of the tragedy and has posted to this listserv since.

None of the others has made contact with us in any way.

We are hoping we will soon have word on their situation. Marie and Cyrus were in touch with me up to the time of our General Assembly in December. Cyrus was due to travel to the US last month.

This is all the information I have at this time. If anyone else can shed further light on this, it would be appreciated.
