Prime Minister Lamothe is interviewed by reporter from the Wall Street Journal at the 44th WEF in Davos.
To say that Haitian Prime Minister Laurent S. Lamothe had a successful mission at the 44th World Economic Forum in Davos would be an understatement.
Before he left Haiti, The Prime Minister told the media that the purpose of this trip was to attract new investments to Haiti and promote the business potential of the country as the Government continues to multiply initiatives to improve the business environment.
Once in Davos, Mr. Lamothe held talks with regional and world leaders to reinforce cooperation and ties. He also discussed investment opportunities with decisions makers from global corporations including Dell, Salesforce, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Petrobras, Marriot Hotels and Heineken.
The talk with Michael Dell, CEO of computing giant that bears his name, resulted in an agreement for Dell to install several technical laboratories in different parts of the country for the benefit of young Haitian students.
Prime Minister Lamothe also held discussion with self proclaimed "Chief Shoe Giver" Blake Mycoskie, the founder of TOMS who announced that his company will begin to manufacture shoes in Haiti in a not too distant future.
Mycoskie told the daily newspaper USA TODAY: "Haiti presented a unique opportunity because it is so close to the USA".
Other investors including renowned philanthropist George Soros have also expressed interest in investing in Haiti.
A successful businessman in his own rights, Laurent Lamothe promised to use his personal contacts in the business world to attract investments to Haiti and the positive results he garnered in Switzerland proves he means business.
