Special Advisor for Children's Issues Travels to Haiti

Special Advisor for Children's Issues Ambassador Susan Jacobs will visit Haiti from February 3-6 to discuss the future of intercountry adoptions following Haiti's ratification of the Hague Adoption Convention.
Ambassador Jacobs will join Joanna Ruppel, International Operations Division Chief, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to meet with government officials about Haiti's laws for implementing the Hague Adoption Convention and plans for the transition adoption cases. They will also discuss how the countries can partner together to promote ethical and transparent intercountry adoptions that are in the best interests of children. Ambassador Jacobs will also meet with nongovernmental organizations to discuss strengthening child protection systems.
