CHILD PROTECTION ADVOCATES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD APPLAUD FRIDAY'S ARREST OF US CITIZEN, MICHAEL GEILENFELD, BY HAITI GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

A CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIM'S BIGGEST FEAR IS THAT HE OR SHE WON'T BE BELIEVED, ESPECIALLY IF THE ABUSER IS A POWERFUL PERSON LIKE HAITI ORPHANAGE DIRECTOR, MICHAEL GEILENFELD.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT GEILENFELD REMAIN IN JAIL, NOT POST BAIL, AND NOT HAVE ACCESS TO VICTIMS AND WITNESSES. 

MORE VICTIMS MAY COME FORWARD TO PROSECUTOR, CHARLES KERSON, AND PNH INVESTIGATORS IF THEY FEEL SAFE AND ARE NOT INTIMIDATED BY THE PRESENCE OF GEILENFELD.

"It is encouraging that the government of Haiti is being proactive and vigilant in protecting children from being sexually abused. The brave and courageous Haitian men who have come forward to charge Geilenfeld with sexually abusing them when they were children living in his orphanage in Haiti are making a real difference. Their voices are finally being heard by Haitian authorities. Children will be safer because of them."

U.S. citizen Michael Karl Geilenfeld waits in handcuffs as the manager of his orphanage sits with him in the back of a police truck outside the St. Joseph's Home For Boys after police closed it down in the Delmas area of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. Geilenfeld, who founded the boy's orphanage in 1985, was taken into custody on charges including indecent assault, according to authorities. The children had been previously removed from the orphanage, according to Port-au-Prince General Prosecutor Charles Kerson.

We hope that anyone who saw, suspects, or suffered child sexual abuse by Michael Geilenfeld, or any other person associated with the St. Joseph Family of Homes, will find the courage to come forward and report what they know or suspect to police.
