Michael Geilenfeld drops all claims of defamation against child protection activist, Paul Kendrick.

Insurance companies negotiate a financial settlement with North Carolina nonprofit in 6 1/2 year old Haiti child sexual abuse case.

Geilenfeld receives nothing.

Statement by Paul Kendrick

The resolution of this lawsuit brings about three significant results. 

First, the testimonies of the victims from Haiti, including many new witnesses, are now in the hands of the U.S. Justice Department. 

Second, the fact that Mr. Geilenfeld dismissed all defamation charges further supports the criminal investigation. 

Third, the money from the settlement will be used for the care, well being and education of children in Haiti.” 

Facts

• $3 million has been paid by two insurance companies to North Carolina based Hearts with Haiti, an organization that assists those facing the challenges of disability ​and poverty in Haiti. 

• No judgment has been entered against Kendrick.

• Former Catholic Brother, Michael Geilenfeld, dismissed with prejudice all claims of defamation against child protection activist, Paul Kendrick. 

• No payments or any other consideration will be made to Geilenfeld, on or behalf of Paul Kendrick, for the dismissal of Geilenfeld’s claims.

• Geilenfeld is not a party to the settlement agreement with Hearts with Haiti.

• Geilenfeld is the former Executive Director of the St. Joseph’s Home for Boys in Port au Prince, Haiti. In response to allegations of child sexual abuse, Haiti government officials permanently shut the facility down to minor children in 2015.

• Hearts with Haiti and the St. Joseph’s Family of Homes in Haiti have expunged all mention of Geilenfeld from their organizations’ web sites.

• The mountain of evidence and testimony of child sexual abuse against Geilenfeld, obtained in the civil lawsuit, is in the hands of U.S. Justice Dept officials.

• An open, active criminal investigation of Geilenfeld is being conducted by the Miami office of Homeland Security. The public is encouraged to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its confidential 24/7 toll-free hotline at 1-866-DHS-2423.

• Haiti National Police have a warrant for Geilenfeld’s arrest on multiple charges of child sexual abuse. If Geilenfeld re-enters Haiti, he will be arrested and imprisoned, pending a criminal trial.

• In a separate proceeding, Justices of the Appeals Court Tribunal in Haiti have ordered Geilenfeld to appear before the Court to offer testimony in a trial of criminal charges of child sexual abuse being brought against Geilenfeld.

• Geilenfeld has been deported from the Dominican Republic to which he fled in late 2015 to avoid arrest and prosecution in Haiti. He is not allowed to re-enter the Dominican Republic.

• As a result of Geilenfeld bringing this lawsuit against Kendrick, Geilenfeld has been exposed as a multi accused child molester in Haiti, adding an additional level of protection to children.

• Geilenfeld is identified to schools, law enforcement agencies and religious organizations as a multi accused pedophile.
