$280 U.S. per week needed ASAP from Order of Malta to continue feeding the child sex abuse victims in Haiti who were raped and sodomized by Douglas Perlitz.
Order of Malta President, Joseph Miller, who has been ignoring the plight of the boys who were sexually abused by Douglas Perlitz, was honored recently at a $10,000 per table gala country club event while, not so far away in Haiti, the sex abuse victims of Perlitz have nothing to eat and no place to sleep.
On May 13, 2010, at the same time that the boys who were abused by Douglas Perlitz were begging for scraps of food on the streets of Cap Haitian, Haiti, Joseph Miller, President of the American Malta Association, was being honored for his service to the sick and poor at a special event at the Woodway Country Club in Darien, Connecticut.
Tables could be purchased for the event honoring Joe Miller at three levels: $5,000, $7,500 or $10,000.
For the past 18 months, President Miller and Order of Malta officials have ignored and abandoned the courageous boys in Haiti who reported their abuse by Perlitz to U.S. authorities.
In September 2008, six prominent Connecticut Malta officials, Rev. Paul Carrier, S.J., Jeannie and Tom Tisdale, Hope Carter and Madeline and Phillip Lacovara, all of whom served as board members for the non profit group that ran the Project in Haiti, did everything in their power to bring the school down in their defense of Perlitz's innocence.
During the past two months, a small group of advocates for those who were abused raised almost $3,000 to help provide basic necessities for the boys, including shoes, medicine, and a weekly food allotment.
Sadly, the funds are exhausted and there will be no food for the boys next week.
We are asking Joseph Miller and Malta officials to step in and help. This is a desperate situation.
By Friday of this week, we need $280 to continue feeding these 20 boys ($2 per day, per boy). After that, we will need an additional $280 each Friday.
Cyrus Sibert of Cap Haitian is the boys' primary caretaker. Cyrus has established a food distribution process for the boys. Arrangements can be made via Western Union to wire transfer funds to Cyrus each week. Receipts will be provided to you. Cyrus can be contacted at: reseaucitadelle@yahoo.fr
