June 9, 2010 Vol. 2, No. 98 Publisher's Note: The following was received from Ruth Moore, Coordinator of STTOP (Speak Truth to Power) STTOP has maintained a presence, in support of survivors, in front of the cathedral in Boston every Sunday for the past eight years. Establishment of Fund for the Victims of abuse from Cap Haitien, Haiti For the past several months we have read the heart wrenching news accounts of several Haitian victims who were sexually abused while attending a school established by Project Pierre Trussaint, directed by Douglas Perlitz. After going public with their abuse, these brave young people were further victimized by the sudden dissolution of their school forcing them back into a homeless life on the streets. STTOP.Org (Speak Truth to Power) has established a special one time Fund, to support these brave individuals and to send them a message that many of us do care about them and are appalled by the lack of outreach from several institutions and local support groups. 100% of your donation to this Fund will go directly to these individuals. The names of donors and the amount of their donations will be kept anonymous. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Send donations to: STTOP PO Box 610156 Newton, MA 02461 (Checks payable to STTOP (memo - Cap Haitien Victims) STTOP and Friends Ruth Moore, Coordinator _____________________________ (A note from Paul Kendrick Paul has been a pioneer in the effort to help Haitians especially those victimized by clergy.) You can advise donors that the funds will be used for school tuition in the fall (and shoes so they can attend). My immediate plans are twofold: 1) Provide counseling and therapy (yes, amidst all the immediate problems in their lives, the victims need help working through the trauma of their abuse) 2) Get them represented by legal counsel here in US so they are not pushed around and forgotten by those who failed to protect them (this is in the works). I cannot thank you enough. Regards Paul |
