A Man of God, A Man of Honor, A Father to Me
After my own father passed away in 2008, there was a deep emptiness in my heart that I thought could never be filled. But then God, in His mercy, placed Père Sibert in my life in a way that went beyond family ties. He became more than just a father-in-law. He became a father to me.For over thirty (30) years, I had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man of deep faith, a devoted Seventh-day Adventist pastor, and a humble servant of the Lord. He preached the Word with passion, lived it with integrity, and taught by example. He truly believed in the soon return of Jesus and made it his mission to prepare hearts for that day.
But beyond the pulpit, he was a man of quiet strength and unconditional love. In our home and in our hearts, he was a steady presence. He offered wisdom when it was needed, prayer when it was requested, and love without having to be asked. He welcomed me not just as a relative but as his own. Through his actions and his heart, he filled a place in my life that had been empty since I lost my father.
His legacy is not only in the sermons he preached or the people he baptized. It is in the family he built, the lives he touched, and the example he left behind. He lived simply, loved deeply, and served faithfully.
Though we grieve, we do not grieve without hope. We believe in the promise he held onto so strongly. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 4 verse 16, For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Père Sibert now rests from his labors, but his life continues to speak through all of us who were blessed to know him. We thank God for the gift of his life and we rejoice in the assurance that we will see him again on that great resurrection morning.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.
Matthew chapter 25 verse 21
With deep respect, lasting love, and gratitude.
Your child by love
