On July 5, 2014, a Haitian judge issued a warrant authorizing the Haitian police to put under arrest U.S. citizen Michael Geilenfeld, director of the orphanage St. Joseph Home for Boys Delmas 91 and his accomplice, Phillips Norris, both men charged with "Indecent exposure and rebellion."
Mr. Geilenfeld, heard by a judge on May 5, 2014 for sexual and physical abuses, trafficking, and exploitation of various kinds, seems to be in the sights of a Haitian justice for lying under oath (perjury) while ignoring the judge's orders. On April 30, 2014, the magistrate, judge Dimanche received three (3) young Haitians – alleged victims of Mr. Geilenfeld – who described graphically and coherently the sexual abuses to which they were subjected.
During a testimony in which the victims took part, Mr. Geilenfeld recklessly accused everyone and ignored the evidence presented against him while failing to prove otherwise. He lied under oath stating that there has not been any decision by the IBESR (the Haitian regulatory agency) against his institution despite several documents by the agency refuting his claims. Complacent, Mr. Geilenfeld went as far as promising to bring to the court a license authorizing his institution to operate while he was never issued such a certificate by the state agency (IBESR). As usual, the director of the orphanage Saint Joseph, Mr. Geilenfeld, thought he could belittle the Haitian judge, the Haitian justice and even the Haitian State.
After requesting 3 days to produce is credentials, the director of the orphanage St. Joseph, Mr. Geilenfeld, fails to present evidence that he had the authorization to run the orphanage. In fact, despite two months have elapsed, he never returned to the judge's office. Mr. Geilenfeld seems to be in rebellion against the Haitian justice.
This weekend, we learned that judge Al Duniel Dimanche has long issued an arrest warrant against the orphanage director, Mr. Geilenfeld, charging him with sexual exploitation of the poor children of Haiti.
It should be noted that during a court appearance, Mr. Geilenfeld had indicated that, currently, his orphanage is running and serves 19 children. On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, the plaintiffs have produced a copy of an order of IBESR dated January 31, 2014. The order was addressed to the officials of St. Joseph Home for Boys. It read as follows: "... given this state of illegality, the non-compliance with operating standards, and pending confirmation of these allegations, the IBESR has decided to remove the children from the so-called orphanage and relocate to a safer place."
